Where will you be in 2012?

I think by now we have all answered that question.  Here we are.  Just out of curiosity, I contacted a psychic earlier this year that several members of the design community swear by.  This woman no longer lives in Georgia but she took my phone call as I pondered the future.  Who knows?  I have a feeling that those with especially psychic ability are much like weather forecasters…if the clouds are gathering, it might likely rain.  Of course the winds can always shift and blow that prediction off course.

One of the things she predicted is that I would lose someone close to me and that the death would take less than two weeks.  A week later, I got a phone call that my mother had taken ill and in a week she passed away.   Seriously, now I wished that I had taped the phone conversation.

Her other predictions centered around this year and all of the mystery that seems to be surrounding 2012.  Not gloom and doom but a perspective that our world is shifting and if those who believe that the world is coming to an end in December of this year, we will all be transported and won’t care anyway.

So, I’ve decided to take this year by storm and spend as much time as possible with the people I’ve come to love in the creative community and do the things that I’ve been putting off for several years.  Yesterday, I ripped out my entire front yard (I didn’t actually do it myself, that would be crazy) but hired Solterra Landscape to completely redo it.  Solterra did the Edward Scissorhands exhibit at The Next Cool Event.  Owner Dixie Speck impressed me from the start with her down to earth (no pun intended) style.

So, I’m thinking that if the world comes to an end, I’ll have a really cool yard if nothing else.

#1 On My List – YOU!

I am so excited! Tonight is the first night of The Next Cool Event and I could not be more thrilled.

Yesterday, I was dishing with my friend, Max Sanchez, who is creating the My Fair Lady exhibit. Neither of us can wait to see all the fabulous people who will be attending and taking in every single thing The Next Cool Event has to offer.

Be and be seen at The Next Cool Event

The designers, the music, the drinks (remember, no tipping allowed), the spectacle and YOU!

The Next Cool Event benefits What A Life

You are what makes this event. Without all the amazing guests, we have a gorgeous set up with no one to enjoy it.

You have no idea who you might meet (Image courtesy of Talking With Tami)

Get here, mingle, enjoy and mingle some more. You have no idea who you will run into. And that, my friends, is the thrill of The Next Cool Event.

Arrive in style.

If you see Ms. Barbara English, be sure to say to hello – she is the incredible powerhouse behind all of this. I have never met anyone with such energy. Hang with her for a bit and you will feel the electricity.

Hopefully, you have tickets in hand because it is going to sell out. You can check here to see if there are a few available.

#2 – Girl Power

Two more days until the big party!!

Today, I am focusing on the sheer feminine power you will experience at The Next Cool Event.

Power, in the form of perfectly pitched singing voices. These women run the gamut of genres; there is opera to blues to country and everything in between.

Somer, Summer, CiCi, Bernadette, Chandra, Shelby, Hope, Gwen, Avery, Doria will all lend their talents to Friday and Saturday nights’ events along with Granville Automatic and Von Grey (and we all know how I feel about Von Grey – divine!)

Man, I feel like a woman.

Be there. Get your tickets here. I’m not kidding, they are almost sold out.

#3 – Tea Party with TLC

We are only three days out from The Next Cool Event. How exciting!

This year, my interest is really being piqued by the many exhibits inspired by my favorite childhood classics. Peter Pan (Hook), Red Riding Hood, Edward Scissorhands and King Kong.

But of all the classics, one really stands out for me and has continued to enchant me as an adult.

Alice In Wonderland, brought lovingly to life by TLC Rents and Brad Brooks Design. I cannot wait to experience their tea party, sitting beneath the Mad Hatter chandelier, sipping tea in my party dress.

Who says you have to grow up? Not, I.

Meet me for a crumpet?

#4 – The Sponsorship Cache

Parties can be fun or parties can be ho-hum.

It’s all about the people you invite, right?

As an entrepreneur myself (insert shameless self-promotion here), I can’t wait to mix and mingle with the most influential members of the entertainment industry here in Georgia.

Who will be there? The GPP for one. The Georgia Production Partnership has been instrumental in bringing all these amazing productions to Georgia. If you look around, there is filming everywhere. There are movie & television stars all over Georgia. It’s not uncommon to run into an A-Lister in any of our restaurants or to see them jogging in Piedmont Park.

“Isn’t that John Travolta?”

Why, yes, it is!

Are you a music lover? Trying to meet all the right contacts? The Recording Academy, Atlanta Chapter will be at The Next Cool Event. With the Grammys just celebrating this past Sunday night, their stage is going to be a HAPPENING.

Movies, Television and Music – The Next Cool Event has it all.

And I plan to immerse myself in the fabulousness this Saturday night, February 18th.

Don’t have your tickets yet? Click here and don’t get left behind.

#5 – People Watching!

Interior Designers, Musicians, First Class Food, Luscious Cocktails and a literal Who’s Who in Atlanta. What does that get you?

One fine night for people watching, I tell you!

Last year there were girls from the Moulin Rouge, dancers from Black Swan, ladies from the Roman Empire, Jack Nicholson human sized bobble heads and what I swear was Bono and The Edge. Word on the street was that Tyler Perry was there, too, but I must have missed him.

From tuxedos to circus leotards, and everything in between. Expect to be surprised and delighted. I can’t recall a party where I have experienced better people-watching.

Do you want to see for yourself? You will have to buy a ticket to The Next Cool Event and check it out yourself.

You won’t believe your eyes.

#6 On My List – Kheesekake!

Cheesecake is irresistible. Just face it. You cannot refute its power.

Make that a cheesecake from Kheesekakes by Kelli and you are in trouble. No running from it’s power. Sorry.

But…if you are attending The Next Cool Event, you don’t need to worry! You can find Kelli and she will hook you up.

If you don’t get there quickly though, I will have eaten every one of those goodies. Oops.

#7 On My To-Do List – SHOPPING!

With all The Next Cool Event has to offer – dining, cocktails, world-class musical entertainment, the wildest exhibits; you would think that would be enough, wouldn’t you?

Oh, no! You can also shop, too! And who doesn’t like shopping?

Pick up an exclusive The Next Cool Event long sleeved tee, in a slimming black, of course, only at the event.

Designed by the very swanky folks at the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment and emblazoned with the slogan,

“It hasn’t been this hot in Georgia since Sherman was here.”

Don’t you just love it?

I’m buying an armload. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas?
